About Brad Mehldau: American jazz pianist born August 23, 1970. Classically trained, won Berklee’s Best All-Around Musician Award. Studied under Fred Hersch, Junior Mance, Jimmy Cobb.
Musical Style: Leads through jazz essence with experiments and innovations, incorporating classical piano and pop rhythms. Known for reworking songs by The Beatles, Radiohead, Paul Simon, Gershwin, Nick Drake, Nirvana alongside originals.
Career Highlights: Recording debut “Introducing Brad Mehldau” (1995). “Highway Rider” (2010) – ambitious double-disc with chamber orchestra.
Trio History: One of jazz’s most celebrated ensembles since mid-1990s, known for telepathic interplay and innovative interpretations.
Special Notes: “Silence which seemed to last for hours after every tune finished: not because he had disappointed, but because collectively the audience felt reluctance to applaud and shatter the spell.”
